Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS)
We recommend RetroMAD1 for cats which are experiencing Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS) and not Periodontal Disease.
If the condition is chronic and your cat has not responded to antibiotic treatment, it is highly likely the FCGS is caused by a virus, of which Feline Calicivirus (FCV) is the most common.
RetroMAD1 can be administered as follows:
1a) By Oral Route:
- Dose = 0.50ml per kg, 30 – 45 minutes before a meal, food supplement or probiotics for optimal absorption.
- Daily = 3 times a day with intervals not more than 12 hours apart, e.g. 7AM – 1PM – 7PM, 8AM – 5PM – 11PM. It may be a schedule that is convenient to you, however, please keep to the schedule.
1b) By Subcutaneous Injection:
- Dose = 0.50ml per kg. Do NOT give intramuscular or intravenous injection.
- Daily = 2 times a day. There is no need to observe any food restriction timing.
You may alternate between Subcutaneous injection and Oral administration whichever is most convenient to you but if given orally, it will be 3 times per day.
2) Duration = 15 days.
3) Review with your veterinarian.
